I have most recently been inspired by a beautiful film called, “Mao’s Last Dancer”. Being of an Asian descent I could connect with the story.
Don’t you just love coming out of a movie that has inspired you so much that you want to share it with others. The Art of Film is there to inspire us, to entertain us, to challenge our beliefs and values, to connect us with emotions we have buried deep down and afraid to express them, to look within ourselves and hopefully say “my life has meaning and someone out there understands me and has shared similar experiences!”
Being of Asian descent, a dancer and from a small village in the Philippines and who migrated to Australia at the age of eight I could relate to a lot in Mao’s Last Dancer, an autobiography of Li Cunxin. It was so inspiring to me, his courage, strength and will reminded me to keep holding onto my dream and never give up no matter how challenging the journey at times can be. The other important aspect of the film is his connection with his family and community. Similarly my dream is not my dream alone but a dream for my family and community and the world. Let’s keep redefining our dream and life purpose, our relationships with family and each other, as this is the most important thing that will bring happiness and peace.
So if you haven’t seen it yet, go and check it out. Love to hear your experience. It’s also a great book to read if you get a chance to pick it up.
Much love and happiness to you!!!!
