Eating from Nature’s Table Helps Keep Cancer at Bay!

My husband and I have been eating organic foods for many years now and have also been predominantly vegetarian with small amounts of small fish.

There are times we love to indulge!

I notice a huge difference when I do indulge in sweet foods, such as cakes, ice-cream and chips. They leave me congested lethargic and a little eeky!

So I’ve started to learn how to make my own sweets with agave or stevia as sweeteners. I’ll give you more info on amazing raw food recipes in upcoming blogs soon!

This week I’ve had the opportunity to attend lunches and dinners at wonderful friend’s gatherings and seen eating ice-cream and crème brulee, is that how you spell it! It was so divine, the best I’ve had in the world. I enjoyed every mouthful! Everything in moderation, I adopt the 80 – 20 principle.

As you can see, I love food, as well as having fascination with the Wisdom in foods provided by Divine Nature. There’s so much to learn!

I love this Divine Order and connection we have with Nature.

Below is information I put together for the Breast Cancer Charity I contributed to late last year to Help Keep Cancer at Bay.

The following, treat them as guidelines that can assist youand your family to a better quality of life. Remember treat them as guidelines and not rules, dance and play with them without engaging the guilt tripper that we seem to all share.

Findings in recent research suggests that adding the following foods to your diet as well as avoiding some could significantly lower your risk of breast cancer.

1. Eating raw or lightly blanched vegetables are far more beneficial to our health and longevity, than eating cooked dairy foods and vegetables where most of the nutrients are destroyed through the heating process.

2. Eat yellow orange vegetables, they’re high in beta-carotene, which has shown in many studies to lower rates of breast cancer.

3. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, radish, rutabaga, turnips and turnip greens, all contain indole-3-carbinol, which lowers women’s levels of a type of oestrogen that promotes breast cancer.

4. Eat tomatoes, including raw, cooked, dried, soups and juices to fill up on a compound called lycopene. Having diets that are high in lycopene are linked to lower rates of breast and prostate cancer.

5. Concord grapes have cancer remissive powers, as do sun dried raisins.

6. Eat a bowl of dark cherries as they’re a top source of a compound that may inhibit mammary cancers.

7. Eat whole fruit oranges and tangerines, compounds called limonoids are found in the peel and white membrane of these fruits.

8. Eat nuts and seeds that are rich in omega-3, such as flax, pumpkin and walnuts as research suggests that women with higher tissue levels of omega- 3s have lower rates of breast cancer. Also flaxseed has 75 times more lignin precursors, an awesome plaque remover and compounds that inhibit mammary tumors.

9. Avoid refined grains and choose whole grains instead. Studies have shown that women who ate more refined grains had more breast cancer. Another study showed women who ate one serving a day of a cereal high in wheat bran lowered their level of breast cancer-promoting oestrogen.

10. In one study, women who ate a serving of spinach at least twice a week had half the rate of breast cancer of women who avoided it.

11. Use butter over margarine, butter contains CLA’s. One study suggests that a diet higher in trans-fats may increase the risk of breast cancer. Margarine, most French fries, both frozen and fast –food and many processed and fried foods made with hydrogenated fats are a top trans fat source. If you prefer margarine, use a trans-fat free brand or cold pressed olive or coconut oil.

12. Garlic kills breast cancer cells. Eat it raw in foods. But if you’re going to cook garlic, always peel and chop, then let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes before you heat. Heating right away doesn’t allow time for the cancer-inhibiting compounds to develop.

13. Flavourful veggie burgers and veggie sausage won’t form the same compounds that meat does when it’s being cooked and those compounds may explain why women who eat lots of red meat and lots of very well done meat always, get more breast cancer.

14. Phyto herbs, like Don Quai, fennel, blackcohosh are also weak oestrogens that compete with stronger oestrogens for oestrogen receptor sites.

15. Stop eating animals and cooked dairy products.

16. Avoid smoking.

17. Instead of commercial “olive oil” dressings, usually made with a mixture of oils, make your own easy dressing with half virgin olive oil and half balsamic vinegar. Studies have shown that Mediterranean women who eat lots of virgin olive oil have low rates of breast cancer.

Don’t Feed Your Tumor’s Sweet Tooth

18. Feeding your tumor’s is by having a sweet tooth. Whether the sugar you eat is sucrose, refined white sugar, or fructose, maltose or dextrose, which are the sugars that are also used as commercial sweeteners, it all turns into blood sugar, known as glucose. One of the first things to do is to get off the sugar. You can do that by staying away from sugary desserts and not adding sugar to any food.

19. Drink water that’s distilled, purified or natural spring water. Invest in a portable purifier or install one in your kitchen and showers.

20. Drink green tea, hot or cold. Green tea is rich in EGCG, a compound that inhibits breast cancer cells. Caffeinated brands have twice as much potency as decaffeinated, while most bottled brands have little. Mix with herbal teas and lemon peel to taste or naturally sweeten with a little concord grape juice, super low glycaemic Agave or sweet leaf.

21. Drink tomato juice to fill up on a compound called lycopene. Having diets that are high in lycopene are linked to lower rates of breast and prostate cancer.

22. Warm a mug of organic, hormone-free raw milk, known as Alta Dena, add one tablespoon of ground almonds, pumpkin seed or walnuts or one-fourth of a table spoon of natural almond extract and enjoy it a t bedtime. Why not fat-free milk? Because there’s an intriguing compound in milk fat, including butter, known as conjugated linoleic acid, which rids breast cancer cells.

23. Reduce alcohol intake or avoid all together. Case studies shows that women who drink alcohol increases their chances of developing cancer by 40 – 70%. So here, you now have some of the great foods you can start to implement into your diet that will guide you to greater health and vitality.

24. The dangers of using and reusing of plastic bottles can cause the plastic to break down and carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals agents) can leach into the water YOU are drinking. It’s better to invest in water bottles that are really meant for multiple use such as stainless steel or glass containers. According to water-filtration company Brita (owned by bleach giant Clorox), Americans discard 38 billion plastic water bottles per year, and it takes 1.5 billion barrels of oil to produce them. Can you imagine how many bottles are discarded per year worldwide? Buy reusable stainless steel flasks or glass bottles. You will not only save more money using reusable containers and water filters, you’re saving the environment as well.

I’d like to share a quote with you by Albert Einstein.

“Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.”
ALBERT EINSTEIN, quoted in Sinfully Vegan

All the best and take care until next time,
